Literary Representation

If you’re ready to enter the world of publishing, we can work with you to turn a manuscript, a proposal, or even just an idea into something that can win the attention of the right publisher for your work.

Whether you’re a scholar who needs the credibility of an academic press, a journalist who wants to speak to contemporary issues, or a writer wishing to articulate your personal experience with life’s biggest questions, we want to help. Different publishers have their own strengths and areas of specialty, and we’re ready to work with you to shape a proposal and point it in the right direction for your greatest chance of success. Our area of greatest expertise is in nonfiction publishing; if you’re looking for an agent for your work of fiction, you may need to look elsewhere.

Please use our contact form to submit a query so we can determine whether we have a good mutual fit. Tell us about yourself, including your qualifications for writing the book you’re proposing, and provide a brief overview of the project. If we’re interested in seeing more, we’ll ask you for a more detailed outline and at least the introduction or first chapter of the manuscript.

“BBH Literary agents David Bratt and Laura Bardolph are stellar author representatives. They are widely acquainted with the world of publishing and speak for authors there with intelligence and vigor. They are savvy and completely reliable.”

— Cornelius Plantinga Jr., author of Not the Way It’s Supposed to Be and Morning and Evening Prayers
